St. John’s Conservatory Theater’s ALICE ISN’T ALL THERE is in rehearsals. A mega-talented cast composed of local actors, musicians, dancers, and variety artists is assembling what promises to be as good an offering as any “big city” production. Original book, music, and lyrics by Broadway veteran R O’Donnell lead the troupe into a Gothic, colorful Wonderland àla Tim Burton.
Written by award-winning playwright/composer Brazillia R. Kreep, ALICE ISN’T ALL THERE is slated for an October 10th opening. Directed by R O’Donnell, musical direction and arrangements by Angela Conzone Dwyer, Orchestrations and incidental music by Pat Duffy, and designed by Stephen Chambers, ALICE ISN’T ALL THERE is a spoof on the iconic Lewis Carroll tale ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND.
The story of Alice is told by the Bells & Wheezle Circus Company, a European-style commedia dell’arte, in a chamber theater style presentation and runs 90 minutes with all original songs. A contemporary Alice finds herself in Wonderland haunted by the Victorian Alice while interacting with all the classic characters.
Allexa Hooper and Hailey Weber star as Alice Brimble and Alice Liddle respectively. Other principal talent includes Paige Merz as the Cheshire Cat, Sloane Ryan as Boo Hoo, Steve Summers as Itsy Bitsy, Deanna Bellinger as the Dormouse, Bill LaMere as the March Hare, Angela Conzone Dwyer as the Queen of Hearts, Chris Dwyer and Ryan Woodard as Tweedledee and Tweedledum, and R O’Donnell as the Mad Hatter.
Show times are October 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25 with a 7 PM curtain and cost $15 dollars (suggested donation) at the door or $10 dollars at our online box office. JCT is on the second floor of St. John’s Parish House located behind St. Johns Episcopal Church off the corner of Franklin and Knox. Parking is available off Franklin.
